Ron Erdman, President

Ron Erdman is the Owner and President of Amtech, and is based in our Dallas office. In addition to providing dynamic leadership and ensuring that the long-term strategy of the company is executed, Ron retains a "hands-on" approach and is actively involved in the management and/or execution of a large percentage of Amtech's projects. This involvement ensures consistency and a high level of quality control in our work products. Ron also leads Amtech's business development and client relation efforts throughout the country. Ron joined Amtech in 2016 after spending 30 years working in the roofing and waterproofing industry for a variety of national construction, engineering, architectural, and roof consulting firms.

After studying Architecture at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Ron went on to specialize in building envelope assessment, testing, forensics, repair design, and disaster recovery. He is a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Roof Observer (RRO), and a Level 1 Certified Thermographer. Ron is the former President of the North Texas Chapter of RCI (NTCRCI), and the former Director of Region III for RCI National. He is also actively involved in the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) and the Concrete Specifications Institute (CSI). Ron manages a variety of educational, public, and private sector clients, and has provided design and consulting services on high rise, commercial, historic, federal, and large residential properties around the world. Having owned and managed his own construction firm prior to entering the consulting world, Ron brings a unique perspective and understanding of the value of proper design and detailing, quality control, and construction monitoring and oversight.

Steven Grant, Director of Operations

Steven Grant serves as Amtech's Director of Operations and is based in our Dallas office. In addition to overseeing and managing the operations of the company, Steven fills a number of other key roles at Amtech including quality control and assurance; project, program, and portfolio management; and technical review and oversight. Steven joined Amtech in 2016 after spending 15 years with a national engineering and facility management consulting company.

Steven earned his Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Building Surveying from the University of the West of England in the United Kingdom. Steven specializes in facility and property condition assessments, due diligence evaluations, cost estimating, building envelope assessments and testing, capital expenditure forecasting, and reserve fund planning. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and has developed exceptional project organization and management skills as demonstrated by achieving the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which is an international designation granted through the Project Management Institute (PMI). Steven is also certified as a Reserve Specialist as designated by the Community Associations Institute (CAI), as a Professional Reserve Analyst as designated by the Association of Professional Reserve Analysts (APRA), and as a Reserve Study Specialist (RSS). Steven has also been designated as an Educated Business Partner by CAI, and is a member of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Chapter of the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI). Steven also holds Registered Roof Observer (RRO) and Certified Thermographer designations.



Susanne Doublin, Director of Client Relations

In her role as Director of Client Relations, Suzanne is responsible for leading Amtech's business development efforts in new target market segments, ensuring client satisfaction, developing and marketing new service lines, and maintaining and expanding client relations.

Susanne joined Amtech after serving as the Vice-President of Management Services for Transwestern Commercial Services for over 20 years. During her time with Transwestern, Susanne was the recipient of both the President's and Legendary Service Awards, and received Manager of the Year commendations for exemplary performance. Her expertise in client relations, client development, customer satisfaction, and client retention resulted in her leading the Transwestern management team in customer satisfaction surveys on an annual basis. Prior to her long and distinguished career with Transwestern, Susanne served in management roles at The Koll Company, and for a variety of private development companies overseeing tenant construction for retail centers in Dallas, Fort Worth, and throughout the Metroplex. In several of those positions she served as the lead project coordinator, developing properties from initial construction through full occupancy, assuring tenant and ownership compliance and satisfaction throughout the various phases of construction. Susanne is also a Certified Property Manager (CPM).



Robert (Bob) Alford, Founding Principal and Vice-President

Bob Alford is a founding Principal of Amtech, having formed the company in 1982, and currently serves as the Vice-President of Building Sciences. Bob is based in Amtech's Houston office, and in addition to providing technical design, specification, review, and oversight, he also leads Amtech's business development and client relation efforts throughout the country.

A former Sargent in the United States Air Force, Bob went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Science Industrial Management from the Lawrence Technical University in Southfield, Michigan. Since graduating, he has acquired over 35 years of professional consulting experience in the assessment, testing, design, and specification of roofing and waterproofing systems. Bob manages a large clientele including a variety of public and private schools and universities, local and state government entities, and industrial and commercial property owners. Bob has been instrumental in the development and expansion of RCI, Inc. (formerly known as the Roof Consultants Institute) since its inception in 1983, and he is also a member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI), the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), and the Texas Association of Physical Plant Administrators (TAPPA).



Michael (Mike) Blanchette, Vice President

Mike Blanchette is the Vice-President of Architectural Design Services and is based in Amtech's Dallas office. Mike has been with Amtech since 1983, and currently provides a number of key services including senior project management, expert witness testimony, technical design and specification of building envelope systems, client management and business development, cost estimating, and forensic analysis.

After serving in the United States Navy as a Surface Sonar Technician, Mike went on to study Business Administration at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. After spending several years in Michigan with roof consulting and contracting firms as a design manager and project estimator respectively, Mike relocated to Dallas to join Amtech as a project manager and roof designer and specification writer. Since then he has gone on to acquire an additional 30 years of professional roof, wall, and waterproofing systems consulting experience. Mike is known throughout the country for his technical expertise and continued commitment to improving the roof consulting profession. He has served as Treasurer and President of RCI, Inc. (formerly known as the Roof Consultants Institute), and is actively engaged as an expert speaker, routinely delivering a variety of technical training sessions and presentations on behalf of RCI, Inc. Mike was awarded Fellow of the Institute (FRCI) status by RCI, Inc. in 1999, holds Certified Asbestos Abatement Designer and Certified Infrared Thermographer designations, and is a Qualified Nuclear Surface Moisture/Density Gauge Operator. He is also a member of the Singly Ply Roofing Industry (SPRI), the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association (NTRCA), the Sealant, Waterproofing, and Restoration Institute (SWRI), the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), and the Roof Consultants Institute Foundation (RCIF), where he serves as Treasurer.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the roof consulting industry, Mike was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from RCI, Inc in 2017.



TR Hernacki, Senior Engineer

TR is one of Amtech's Senior Engineers and leads the Engineering Services Division. He is responsible for the technical review, oversight, and quality control of all of Amtech's civil and structural engineering projects.

TR earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology, before going on to earn his Masters in Engineering Management from the University of South Florida. He spent the first part of his career working on space propulsion, next generation rocket engines, and launch control systems for several space technology and aerospace firms in South Florida. After leaving the space industry, TR went on to own his own engineering consulting firm, specializing in structural repair and design, historic renovation, cost estimating and cost control management, and construction management. He then became the Senior Engineer for a nationwide engineering and facility management consulting firm, focusing on structural repair design, fall protection systems testing and design, historic renovation, building envelope evaluation and testing, code compliance, facility and property condition assessment, wind and impact protection engineering, and product evaluation engineering for structural code compliance. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), and the Project Management Institute (PMI). TR is licensed in multiple states, certified by the Structural Engineering Certification Board (SECB), and holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.



Alfred Levy, Office General Manager - Dallas

Alfred Levy serves as the General Manager of Amtech's Dallas office. In addition to overseeing and managing office operations, Alfred also leads business development and client management efforts in the North Texas Region, and is responsible for the technical review, oversight, and quality control of all design, testing, forensic, and assessment projects emanating from the Dallas office.

Alfred earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Registered Architect, a member of both the American Institute of Architects and RCI, Inc., and is NCARB certified. Alfred is a highly-skilled architect and project manager, with broad experience in a variety of building types including schools, healthcare facilities, offices, retail properties, and warehouses. He has a proven track record in design, production of construction drawings, construction administration, peer review, LEED commissioning, and interaction with clients, consultants, and contractors. Alfred has accrued over 30 years of architectural design experience with a variety of Dallas-based architectural and consulting firms, and has owned and managed his own architectural practice. Prior to joining Amtech Alfred spent 6 years as a building envelope consultant focusing on water infiltration and air permeability issues related to roof, wall, and waterproofing systems.



Frank Largen, Project Manager

Frank Largen is one of Amtech's lead Project Managers and is based in our Dallas office. Frank's responsibilities include technical design and specification writing, performing peer reviews, overseeing non-destructive and destructive testing procedures, and performing building envelope assessments and forensic analysis.

In a career spanning over 35 years, Frank has acquired a unique understanding of roof, wall, and waterproofing systems. He has assessed, tested, designed, specified, and monitored the installation of thousands of building envelope components and systems. Whilst working for a variety of roof and wall consulting firms over the years, Frank has accumulated a number of professional certifications including Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Registered Roof and Waterproofing Consultant (RRC and RWC), Certified EIFS Professional (CEP), and Certified Thermographer. He is also a registered Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), and a member of both the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), and the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries International (AWCI).



Michael (Mike) Hovar, Office General Manager - RGV

Mike Hovar serves as the General Manager of Amtech's Rio Grande Valley (RGV) office. In addition to overseeing and managing office operations, Mike also leads business development and client management efforts in the South Texas Region, and is responsible for the technical review, oversight, and quality control of all design, testing, forensic, and assessment projects emanating from the RGV office.

After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies from The University of Illinois, Mike went on to earn a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Registered Architect in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, and is NCARB and LEED-AP certified. Mike is also a Registered Interior Designer in Texas and a Registered Roof Observer (RRO), and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). He has over 30 years of professional experience providing building design and construction-related services. He has extensive experience with a variety of building and facility types including libraries, schools, commercial and residential properties, and high-rise structures. Prior to joining Amtech in 2007, Mike owned and managed his own architectural practice in the Rio Grande Valley area.



Michael Schroeder, Office General Manager - Austin

Michael Schroeder serves as the General Manager of Amtech's Austin office. In addition to overseeing and managing office operations, Michael also leads business development and client management efforts in the Central Texas Region, and is responsible for the technical review, oversight, and quality control of all design, testing, forensic, and assessment projects emanating from the Austin office.

After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Cincinnati, Michael went on to earn a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Xavier University. In a career spanning over 20 years, Michael's areas of expertise include structural, civil, geotechnical, and foundation engineering, commercial roofing systems, and determining the cause and/or origin of failures. He is currently licensed as a Professional Engineer in 18 states, serves on the Roofing Industry Committee on Weather Issues, Inc. (RICOWI) foundation board, and has taught numerous building envelope training courses. Prior to joining Amtech, Michael spent 10 years as a regional manager for a national forensic engineering firm where he performed over 1600 forensic investigations, oversaw all aspects of forensic engineering within his region, and was responsible for business and client development activities.



Allen Hibbs, Office General Manager - Houston

Allen Hibbs serves as the General Manager of Amtech's Houston office. Allen is responsible for the technical review, oversight, and quality control of all design, testing, forensic, and assessment projects in the Greater Houston area, in addition to overseeing and managing office operations.

Allen is a Registered Architect, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is NCARB Certified. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, Allen has over 35 years of design and project management experience, and has worked on a number of high-profile governmental, institutional, commercial, and recreational projects. Allen has extensive experience in master planning, preparing design and construction documents, project management, and cost estimating. Before joining Amtech, Allen owned and managed his own architectural practice in Southern California for the best part of 20 years.



David Pierce, Midwest Regional Manager

David Pierce serves as a Regional Manager and is responsible for business development, client relations, technical project oversight, and senior project management efforts throughout Amtech's Midwest Region.

After spending six years in the United States Air Force specializing in avionics, David went on to study Business Administration at Spokane Falls College in Spokane, Washington. He subsequently took a position with the Martin Marietta Corporation (now Lockheed Martin), where David was first introduced to a "brand new" roofing product (EPDM) that was "going to revolutionize the roofing industry". Interested in this new technology, David left the Martin Marietta Corporation to become a sales representative for a roofing contractor, where he was tasked with selling EPDM roof systems and products to architects and building owners. David went on to hold a variety of estimating, sales, and management roles for a variety of roof contractors in the Denver area before starting his own roof consulting firm, Foothills Roof Services, Inc., in 1994. For next 23 years, with David as President, Foothills went on to provide a variety of building envelope assessment, testing, design, and consulting services throughout Colorado and the Midwest. In 2017, Foothills was acquired by Amtech, with David moving into the Midwest Regional Manager position.

David has acquired over 35 years of professional roof, wall, and waterproofing systems consulting experience. He has been a member RCI, Inc. (formerly known as the Roof Consultants Institute) since 1996, and served on the RCI Board as a Region Director for 4 years. He has also served as Vice-President and President of the RCI Denver Chapter. David served on the Board of Directors for the Western Stated Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA) for 10 years, where he held several positions including Vice-President. He also served on the WSCRA Executive Committee for 8 years.



Eric Droz, Project Professional and Senior Quality Assurance Observer

Eric Droz serves as a Project Professional and Senior Quality Assurance Observer, and is based in our Dallas office. Eric plays a key role in Amtech's building envelope assessment, testing, forensic analysis, construction monitoring, and quality assurance teams, and is generally involved in projects across the United States.

After leaving the United States Army, where he served as a Forward Combat Tank Mechanic and Tank Recovery and Heavy Wheel Specialist, Eric went on to hold a variety of technical and managerial roles for several residential electrical contracting firms in Phoenix, Arizona. He subsequently spent 5 years as a Forensic Architectural Inspector for an engineering consulting firm in Phoenix, before relocating to Dallas in 2012 to take a Quality Assurance Observer position with a national building envelope consulting firm. Eric joined Amtech in early 2017. He is a Registered Roof Observer (RRO), and is a member of both RCI, Inc. (formerly known as the Roof Consultants Institute), and the American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM).



Kristel Bethel, Intern Architect

Kristel Bethel is a Project Architect and is based in our Dallas office. In addition to her project and client management responsibilities, Kristel is an integral part of Amtech's building envelope assessment, testing, design, and forensic analysis team.

Kristel has both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Prior to joining Amtech, Kristel served as a Forensic Specialist for a national engineering and building sciences consulting firm, where she specialized in building envelope assessment, design, and forensic analysis.
